Supporting and challenging:
-- Both crucial to learning
-- Questioning is key to both
-- There are particular practices to support and challenge
-- Supporting and challenging can be counter-cultural

Challenging does not mean disagreeing; supporting does not mean agreeing
Challenging is asking for clarification and explanation

When there is low challenging, and low support, nothing really grows. With only support, there is only affirmation (people tend to think they are right, and close their minds off to new ideas, fewer opportunities to think of new ideas). More challenging, and less support can lead to retreat and competition. The ideal balance is to challenge and support in constructive ways.
